     No visit to Myanmar is complete without visiting the wonderful Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, which was built in the year 574 BC (more than 2500 years ago), and today also known as Golden Rock Pagoda.
     Uniquely situated in an idyllic setting amidst lush tropical vegetation and age=-old rocks, the Golden Rock Hotel is ideal for relaxation and meditation.The hotel is about 120 miles (193 km) from Yangon. (about 4 hours by car).
     Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, located on top of Mt. Kyaiktiyo at 3615 feet (1102 meters) above sea level is recognized as one of the wonders of South East Asia by a recent publiction sponsored by the Tourism Authorities of ASEAN countries. It can also be qualified as one of the wonders of the world by virtue of its unique position atop a gilded, boulder which is ddelicately balanced on the edge of the sloping surface of a separate rock table, the slope dropping perpendicularly into the valley below. The boulder an balancing rock barely touch each other. Legend has it that this precarious position of the boulder is held through centuries by virtue of the power of the Hair relic of Gautama Buddha enshrined in the pagoda.
